Over time, the tissues of the face and body are loosened. The installation of resorbable threads allows to realize in the doctor's office a quick facelift, without scars or social eviction.
There are three different types of absorbable threads :
– Polylactic acid threads. This material is biocompatible with the human body, absorbable, and has been used for a long time in cardiovascular and ophthalmic medicine. The threads contain cones ( 8, 12 or 16 cones ) which exercise a tensile effect.
– Polydioxanone barbed threads. This material has long been used in cardiovascular surgery, where the barbs exert a tensile effect.
– Polydioxanone mesothreads. Rather than catching on the skin, the tensile effect is obtained via collagen stimulation.
These threads have received CE certification and FDA accreditation ( USA ).
INDICATIONS : SAGGING SKIN OF THE FACE AND BODY
Threads improve the elasticity and the thickness of the skin by slowing the cutaneous aging (action of collagenic stimulation) and treat the slackening of the skin.
They are used in the face and body.

For the sagging skin of the face we treat this areas
Nasolabial fold
In my opinion, threads are only effective for nasolabial folds where cutaneous ptosis is predominant. Mesothreads improve the epidermal and superficial dermal wrinkles often associated with these folds.
Forehead wrinkles
Mesothreads are a good indication for forehead wrinkles in patients who don’t wish botox. It is an improvement and not a disappearance. The principle is dermal thickening, which helps to reduce wrinkles.
Eyebrow lift
The fall of the eyebrows depends on various factors, muscular, cutaneous and bone. Tensor threads are indicated only in the case of ptosis or slackening of the skin. The result is not comparable to surgical.
Under eyes bags and crow’s feet wrinkles
Mesothreads are a good indication for crow’s feet wrinkles for patients who do not wish to botox. It is an improvement and not a disappearance. The principle is dermal thickening, which helps to reduce wrinkles. For the malar bags, the bag is not treated, but the skin covering it is thickened, for creating a “pocket” of the bag. The results are minimal.

Threads are useful for define the jawline only when the sagging skin is thin and responsible for the loss of definition. When the fatty ptosis is responsible for the break of the mandibular line, the threads have no real interest. Mesothreads are interesting for preventive and curative purposes to strengthen and thicken the skin of this area so that it is a support for the overlying structures.
Neck lift
The only effective technique for lifting the neck is surgery. The mesothreads and the threads are used for crumpled skin and in cases where the relaxation is not caused by the subcutaneous tissue but by the loss of dermal thickness. The goal is to thicken the dermis.
For the sagging skin of the body we treat this areas :
Breast contour lift
The meso threads and the threads are chosen in this indication to improve the area around the areola.
Dermal thickening at this level allows a small tensing effect visible in this area.
The threads are placed in the skin, so there is no danger.
Sagging skin of the arms
The threads can not improve a lot the sagging skin of this area. They are used only when the droopy appearance is caused by the loss of cutaneous tonicity and not by the subcutaneous tissue. The threads allow a thickening of the dermis, which lifts the area. The results are variable.
Belly lift
The results on the abdomen are not very good in my opinion. We can have very good results but they are often due to an individual sensitivity. We acts on the skin, its thickness, improving its crumpled appearance and its tonicity.
Love handles
Threads make it possible to densify the skin in the handles of love. There is no lifting effect.
Lift of the buttocks or brazilian lift
Lift effect is moderate but interesting on the buttocks. The threads and the mesothreads allow to the skin tonicity. It is necessary to use a large number of threads.
Skin sagging of the thighs and calves
The threads are used only to thicken the skin of these areas and not for the slackening of the skin. A small lift effect is present because the skin is densified, but no traction is exerted on the subcutaneous tissues.
The threads have a small dermal densification action and a small lift effect only if the sagging skin is that of the elbow (and not that of the all arm).
Sagging skin at elbows
Sagging at the elbows is caused by several factors : sagging skin, loss of muscle tone, deep fat ptosis, ptosis of subcutaneous fat.
Sagging skin at the knees
Several factors are responsible: sagging skin, loss of muscle tone, deep fat ptosis, ptosis of subcutaneous fat. The threads have a small dermal densification action and a small lift effect only if the sagging skin is that of the knee (and not that of the all thigh).
Treatment of cankles, the ‘face lift’ for the feet
Heels are exposed areas. Threads thicken the skin and eliminate small wrinkles.
SESSION
Tensile threads are carried out under local anaesthetic in order to avoid any painful sensations during their insertion. The anaesthetic jab is not very painful as it is carried out with a very fine needle. This is an outpatient procedure and does not require incisions or stitches. The threads are set in strict asepsis in the deepest layer of the skin. The direction of their insertion, and their number depends on the anticipated result, and the initial anatomy.
If a barbed thread is used, there is an entry and exit point, as shown below on the diagram explaining the barbed thread technique.
If coned thread is used, there will be one point of entry, and two exit points, as explained on the Silhouette Soft diagram below.
If mesothreads are used, there will only be the one entry point.
Side effects
The suites are simples, without downtime or scars.
Bruises are possibles.
Threads are subject to many health checks. Their development is based on years of experience in aesthetics and the material they are made of has long been used in cardiovascular surgery.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The contraindications are as follows:
- Coagulation disorders and medications (aspirin and anticoagulants) causing bleeding disorders.
- Contraindications specific to anesthesia: porphyria; known hypersensitivity to local anesthetics; epilepsy, disorders of cardiac conduction; hepatic, cardiac and respiratory failure; the following drugs: betabloquantes, cimetidine, amiodarone.
